The Affordable Housing Crisis

Attainable Housing, sometimes referred to as “workforce” housing, provides homes for people such as Teachers, Nurses, Police, Firefighters, Medical Technologists, Retail Workers and Government Employees. It is NOT funded by the government in any way but simply the legal and moral obligation of a community to provide local housing options for all working people.

Without adequate Attainable Housing, a community suffers financially and risks the very real threat of losing basic services, such as teachers and police protection.

Over a decade ago, the Town of Davie recognized that we have a problem and developed a Comprehensive Plan with “Goals, Objectives and Policies” to address the Affordable Housing Crisis, but the demand for housing has skyrocketed beyond supply.
