The severe lack of Workforce Housing options across Florida, and South Florida in particular, has reached a crisis level, causing the State Legislature to pass significant legislation to remove many financial and regulatory barriers to the development of affordable housing. The Reserve at Rexmere will assist the Town of Davie in addressing this crisis, consistent with its comprehensive planning mandates, by providing luxury manufactured homes in a safe and beautifully designed community that is consistent with surrounding communities.
The Reserve will be operated and maintained pursuant to the same rules and regulations that govern Rexmere Village, building upon its decades-long history as a trusted community partner. Rexmere Village has long been home to working families who form the backbone of the Town.
The leaders of Davie are regional trailblazers who have adopted planning policies that wisely recognize the need for varied housing options. We look forward to working with them to continue to fill the housing gap not currently served by large lot single-family developments by adding a vibrant new community.
The revised applications contemplate the construction of 75 single-family homes that will expand the stock of luxurious yet attainable housing delivered at prices well below area averages. By offering attractive, high-quality manufactured homes in an established land-lease community, more workers in critically important jobs like law enforcement, health care, and teaching will be able to live closer to where they work, increasing their quality of life and helping to ensure a safe and vibrant community.
The hand-crafted, precision-built, energy-efficient manufactured homes provide the quality and safety that families are seeking. Residents of the Reserve at Rexmere will have access to the existing, rich amenities of Rexmere Village, including playgrounds, a lake with a fishing dock, an Olympic-sized pool complex and clubhouse, fitness facilities, a library, and much more.
Applications for this project were originally filed in 2020, and, prior to, and commensurate with, the review process, Rexmere engaged in a broad community outreach effort, as described more fully in the enclosed applications, including holding in-person and virtual public meetings to engage input from neighboring property owners. As a result of the feedback received through the process, Rexmere has revised its proposed project to address, and we believe eliminate, these concerns contributing improvement & value not only to the Town of Davie but specifically to adjacent neighbors.
We recognize the critical need for more attainable workforce housing and believe this will move the Town closer to the planning principles by providing affordably priced housing options consistent with the Town’s unique vision.
