School Capacity

Question / Issue #3: Will the proposed project strain school capacity?

RESPONSE:

Not every homeowner will have school-aged children. In Rexmere Village at least half of homeowners are retirees or snowbirds. The impact on the schools will be negligible.

There is currently excess capacity at Foxtail Elementary, Indian Ridge Middle School and Western High School of 220, 288 & 119 students, respectively.

We have used the Broward County School Board’s accepted practices to analyze the proposed development’s impact on the schools versus single family dwellings. The development as compared to single family dwellings will have a minor or negligible impact of 12 additional students at Foxtail, 6 additional students at Indian Ridge and 7 additional students at Western high as the charts below indicate. And all of the affected schools will operate under capacity with the approval of Rexmere Reserve.
